Earlier this week I got the chance to check out Precious and I must say I was blown away. The movie is based on the novel Push. I remember years back my girlfriend at the time was reading this book, and I found myself fighting for her time w/ this red book. It wasn't until I watched the film that I truly understand why I had that battle w/ the little red book.
"Precious" is set in Harlem in 1987, it is the story of Claireece “Precious” Jones (Gabourey Sidibe), a sixteen-year-old African-American girl born into a life no one would want. She’s pregnant for the second time by her absent father; at home, she must wait hand and foot on her mother (Mo’Nique), a poisonously angry woman who abuses her emotionally and physically. School is a place of chaos, and Precious has reached the ninth grade with good marks and an awful secret: she can neither read nor write.

It's definitely a must see film. In fact, I'm going to give you 8 reasons to go see this tonight.
1) Oprah & Tyler Perry came together to give you one of the most important movies of our time.
2) Mo'nique's acting in this film is some of the best acting I've seen in a film in a long time. She nails this role like no other and it is 100% reversal from the Mo'nique you get on her show. This is acting.
3) Go see this movie for all the times you were forced to watch Soul Plane on network television.

4) Paula Patton's role in this film puts her at the top of the list when it comes to actresses of color. She has so much passion in this film you forget that this is a movie and not real life. This movie puts Paula among the greatest in Hollywood.
5) You'll fall in love w/ Gabourey Sidibe. She sends you on a roller coaster ride of emotions as you see her hard life through her eyes.
6) Love comes to the big screen as you watch friendships build, and love develop between the cast of this movie. The girls in this film bond in a way that touches your heart because you witness their struggle to learn.
7) This will be the best spend 10 dollars you spend in a long time.

8) This film more than makes up for every second of Glitter. Mariah is almost unnoticeable in this movie.
Over all, I would give this movie a 5 out of 5. So when you're at the box office this weekend trying to decide on what you should see, remember that Precious is the movie that will make you laugh, cry and send you on a ride better than anything at Six Flags.

In the wake of Rihanna's exclusive sit down with ABC's 20/20, Chris Brown has issued a statement."While I respect Rihanna’s right to discuss the specific events of February 8, I maintain my position that all of the details should remain a private matter between us," Brown told MTV days after his 'Chris Brown-The Interview' taping and just before Rihanna's 20/20 airing. "I do appreciate her support and wish her the best. I am extremely sorry for what I did, and I accept accountability for my actions." Admitting that he's taking proper steps to learn about himself, Brown says he leaves everything else to God. "At this point, I am taking the proper steps to learn about me and grow from my mistakes. I only hope that others in similar situations can learn from our experience as well. Abuse of any kind is always wrong. The rest I leave it to God." |

After witnessing the abuse and continued violence Rihanna told Sawyer she would never seek or be involved with a man like her father. "I said to myself, 'I'm never gonna date someone like my dad,' " Rihanna told Sawyer during the interview before repeating "Never." The interview, which aired late Friday, came months after Brown's guilty plea on felony assault charges stemming from his beating of Rihanna in February. One of the many women who somehow slept with Lil Wayne and let him hit it without protection welcomed a child last week. Congratulations, we guess!
The rapper and actress Lauren London - one of two women Weezy knocked up in the past year - celebrated the birth of their first child on Wednesday.
"Lauren London and Dwayne Carter welcomed their healthy baby boy into the world on 09-09-09," says the rep for London, whose acting credits include I Love You Beth Cooper and guest stints on 90210 and Entourage.
"Everyone is happy and well."
Lil Wayne has two children from previous relationships - a 9-year-old daughter from his two-year marriage to Antonia Carterand a 10-month-old son.
Wayne has not disclosed the latter's mom. But he's about to be four-for-four - that many kids by that many women. It's even more impressive than Jason Wahler being arrested that many times in as many different states.
Lil Wayne, a.k.a. The Sperminator, may not be done yet.
Singer Nivea Hamilton, one of Wayne's many lovers, phoned into an Atlanta radio station and revealed she is pregnant and Lil Wayne may have done the honors.
