 SPEECH THERAPY

Speech Debelle is a rapper, from South London and a recent winner  of U.K's Mercury Music Price. Which she won on in September 2009. The rapper released her debut album earlier this year called Speech Therapy which didn't sell as much but was still respected in the community, which is why it was a surprise when she won the Mercury award with little publicity. Speech Debelle is definitely an artist to look out for and get to know.

SNEAKERS by KANYE WEST for LOUIS VUITTON

Here is a small overview of sneakers by Kanye West for Louis Vuitton, sneakers that will be sold at a minimum price of $700, or about 498 €.  They were supposed to be put on sale last spring but this was not the case. Rumors say they will make their grand entry into the Louis Vuitton shops at the end of this year.

Talking about design, I would describe these as classy, discreet sneakers. Kanye West said he was inspired by a Dune character wearing a jacket with huge collar (thus the high quilted flap in the back).

H20 is a U.K rap artist on a mission; to show that the U.K rap scene is not dead. As a member of the DSS crew which consists of different members are ready to make a name for themselves while being humble and diligent. H2O says: "The door is open to RAPPERS, PRODUCERS, SINGERS, DJ'S, DESIGNERS, MODELS. Why limit your movement when you can work with everyone WHO IS REAL and make some SERIOUS PROGRESS". H20 is not just a commercial rapper who spits nonesense on a good beat, his lyrics comes from his heart and he speaks his mind. Songs like 'Our World' and 'Da Promise' shows how his lyrical concept can differ, from love to politics.  Here's what the versatile rapper had to say when we caught up with him.

What inspired you to become an emcee? Skibadee inspired me to be a lyricist, i used to enjoy spitting his bars when i was about 9.

How did you get the name H20?                 I gave myself the name when i was about 14, i thought i flowed like a river, it stayed that way until i was 20 years believe it or not. Then it turned into Here 2 Organise i've always been H2O and always will be!

What artists inspired you?
Skibadee, Nas, Tupac and Bounty Killer

Do you write your own lyrics?
Of course i do, always have, no copying or biting allowed
.

What is your favourite song of yours and why?
My favouraite song is 'Our World' because i like the beat, and when i hear it i get into a zone.

What do you think of UK's music scene right now?
The UK scene needs DSS and H20

What can we expect from you in the coming years?
You can expect some historical moves to be made!!

Jay Z came with what some people called a diss towards the use of auto tune, D.O.A has gained acknowledgement from hip hop heads who love to hear their artists real voice instead of the use of technical enhancement and Jay Z believes it's been played out. Jay Z has a new track off of his long awaited album Blue Print 3 featuring Kanye West and Rihanna. Run This Town is one hot track, the hard hitting beats and the lyrical genius between Jay Z and Kanye with Rihanna singing the hook could not get any better, what do you guys think of it?

Hip Hop Spotlights

 GUCCI MANE vs YOUNG JEEZY

“It wasn’t a question of ‘Why do the song now?’ ” Jeezy explained to MTV News. Young has refused to address Gucci for years and says this interview about the subject will be his last. “It was more so of when dude went away, did his little time or whatever — he came back. The sh– was squashed. I wasn’t trippin’ on him. I was getting my money on. I was done with it. I was on my grind. I wasn’t really paying attention what was going on [with Gucci]. But as you know, Slick

Pulla is locked up. A few of my partners that I really been down with since day one. He started taking shots on his little mixtapes. I was really kinda done with it, because on ‘Stay Strapped,’ I killed him with one verse. To make a long story short, I’m tired of the bullsh–, because I know him. He ain’t like that. To be honest, I don’t have a problem with Gucci because I wear it — I have a problem with Radric [Gucci's Mane's given name].” There’s a song called “Hurry” off of Gucci’s mixtape The Writing’s on the Wall that contains lines that could be taken as jabs at Young and his crew. “Girl you look like Keyshia Cole/ I know you a di– pulla,” he raps. “But can’t f— you Blood Raw/ Damn I like them Kinky flows.” Gucci will neither confirm nor deny if he was throwing disses, but obviously Slick Pulla, Blood Raw and Kinky B are in Young’s crew, and he used to date Keyshia Cole. Jeezy found it funny that Gucci called radio-show host Miss Info on Tuesday and downplayed the whole situation saying Jeezy was just dissing him to build hype. “This is what he does. He always does it,” Jeezy said. “He says what he says, then he hides his hands. Then when you say something, you’re the bad guy. I’m definitely not the aggressor in this situation. I’m just holding my business. I’m a grown-ass man. The best thing for you to do is get your money and leave me the f— alone. I heard their little statement, ‘We ain’t feeding into that.’ Y’all been feeding into that for four years. Get your money, dog. Don’t be out here with the bullsh–.

 YUNG LA • GRAND HUSTLE

The New Boyz

The New Boyz road to the entertainment business started off as only a dream. Earl Benjamin, aka "Ben J" and Dominic Thomas, aka Legacy were both born in Los Angeles, California. Neither of them knew each other at the time but little did they know they would later be given the opportunity to become what New York Times quoted "The Young Teens of Hip Hop"

Ben J always dreamed of becoming famous, he just didn't expect it to be from music. He played football for nine years and was determined to be in the NFL. The same went for Legacy, he played basketball for over seven years and didn't want anything more but to be on the same floor as Kobe. For both of them rapping was just a hobby on the side. In 2005 they both moved to Victorville, CA. They met there during their freshman year in school, surprisingly from a confrontation which almost led to a fight. But despite how much they hated each other, during their sophomore year in High School, they ended up having a class together. Both of them taking rap a little more serious then before, they settled their problems and eventually linked up to start doing music. Since there birthdays were a day apart ( Legacy, October 12th and Ben J, October 13th ) they put their birthday money together and bought their own studio equipment. In early 2008 they decided to stop making music as solo artists and become a duo. On April 12th, 2008 they came up with the name New Boyz and made their Myspace music page along with their first song "Colorz."

Drake's Big Break: Lil Wayne's Protege

This is what Drake-mania looks like up close: It's just after 10 p.m. on a balmy Tuesday night in May and downstairs inside the cramped confines of New York venue SOBs, Drake is receiving what feels like a hero's welcome. Kanye West, Ryan Leslie, Talib Kweli, the Alchemist and Bun B (who'll later join the upstart MC onstage) are all here to acknowledge the much-hyped rapper before his performance, Drake's last before he'll officially begin work on his debut LP, Thank Me Later.

Upstairs it's more of the same. The rap media cognoscenti are all present, as are the executives who have been bidding for Drake's services, including a high-ranking Universal/Motown chief and Warner Music Group Chairman Lyor Cohen. And don't forget the girls. Soon-to-be shrieking girls are lining up just in front of the stage, ready to scream at a moment's notice. It's hard to believe it, but tonight's performance is a part of the New York radio station Hot 97's Who's Next showcase. It's not even a proper Drake concert.

"I'm a new artist, by the way," a cheeky Drake told the packed house when he finally made it onto the stage in designer duds, a striped Commes des Garçons shirt and crimson Nike Air Jordans. "I don't know if you can tell by this show."

Just one month earlier, Drake (born Aubrey Graham), was another buzzed-about rapper on hip-hop blogs, in the class of Asher Roth and Kid Cudi, but not among the newcomers picked for XXL magazine's "Freshman 10" cover last December. His mixtape, So Far Gone, released in February of this year was critically lauded for its mix of melody and deft lyricism. But some derided the work as a knockoff of West's 808s & Heartbreak due to Drake's crooning and female-flavored numbers.

But then the Toronto rapper blitzed through the Big Apple last month — performing at a local college, making a club appearance with Cam'ron and doing interviews on the radio with Power 105's DJ Clue and Hot 97's Angie Martinez. He also freestyled on Funkmaster Flex's show: "I'm in the Aston doing donuts/I will kill the game and never send it my condolensce/ taught to never love the chick and only love the moments/ New York City I can tell the people want it," he furiously spit over the instrumental to Jay-Z's "You, Me, Him, And Her."

"That was probably, to be honest, the first time in a long time I was nervous," Drake says now, recalling the moment. "I don't get nervous for much. But it was like the first time I was like, 'Wow, this is a legendary moment and a legendary opportunity that I'm being given.' It was crazy to be standing in the Hot 97 radio room looking at Flex in the booth. Doing what I seen him do for so many years, for some of the greatest artist to ever be in this business. And to think it was just me there and it was all happening for me, it was definitely ... Surreal is the word.

↔

Drake told MTV News before his show at Manhattan's S.O.B.'s that he's in the process of putting together a video for the song "Best I Ever Had".

"I been working with a couple people on some ideas," he explained. "I don't wanna say who yet, because everything isn't confirmed yet. It should be pretty solid in the next few days. The biggest thing about that song is that a lot of women come up to me and say, 'That's my song, because it really makes me feel special.' So I told the directors that were interested that I just want the visuals to coincide with that feeling. I want women to feel special when they watch the visual and say, 'I wish that was me,' or 'I know that feeling.' That's the goal with the video — to be genuine and not sappy. Be sexy and keep it together, but still make women smile."

The Toronto-based MC is featured on new track with Mary J Blige "The One".
